I like to see the Metropolitan Opera's Live In HD series in my local movie theater. The experience is great, live, great sound, huge format. Best of all worlds.
They also do a recorded re-run the following week. I've been to those too. They are nearly as great. Just missing a slight intangible, the mere knowledge that it isn't live has a small effect for me. But very small.
