Talking is (not) a free action sounds like it could be a fun mechanic if everyone agrees to it. Let the big bad talk, but players get to write down an attempted action and roll for successful sneak for as long as he's yapping.

I actually went to a session zero for a planned astrology-themed campaign where there were two antagonists who alternated between being controlling a PC and being the DM. The players wanted neither of them to achieve their goal, so whichever demiurge was in flesh mode would be helping the other PCs to counteract the places of the other pc/dm. We tried to figure out how to actually make it work and said "yeah nah".

@Uair It's worth thinking about when you start asking students to "explain your reasoning?" too early and it get in the way of doing the reasoning in the first place. I tend to think that around age 13, 14 these kinds of questions become appropriate. And eventually mandatory. But if I want a student to tell me WHY the question should make that very clear. Most of the time I just want the answer and I want it to be correct.

I think its not about reversing the direction of inertia but more of a "you keep your speed when activating/deactivating the belt, just in the other direction". You can't use it to cancel fall damage by reversing gravity for 0.1sec before touching the ground because you also reverse your falling speed when you reverse gravity.
