By giving him an extra trillion dollars, he will pay attention to the company that he owns 19% of and is the source of his wealth.

It is, I assume, standard practice in capitalism to offer to triple the wealth of employees when they are not doing their jobs?

That's what Musk "asked" because he hates him. I hate them both. Bessent is secy of Treasury and handed over the keys to that dept to Muskolini and DOGE. When conservatives first encounter a phrase like “environmental racism” it can break their brains. They have no idea what such a phrase could mean. They assume it means the left has gone mad and thinks trees and air are racist.

(of course “environmental racism” is real— “racist urban planning decisions” might be more clear.)

I bring this up because— could we be missing something here? Is there some kind of “discourse” context that would make this sound less bonkers?

Normally I’m not so glib about saying I could do the job of someone with more experience— things are often harder than they look. However I think most people here could muddle their way to better results.
