@futurebird pretty mid tbh, the infection hook wasn't really used for anything other than "ok so there's monsters now" and it wasn't particularly outstanding otherwise.

Trapped in a valley over winter, frantically building defences against unexpected complication, but always coming back to the wall of ice creeping ever closer.

Then a climatic scene where at the last moment they get a ship ready and are going to escape... only to hear the groan and crash of the glacier cleaving off an iceberg to continue the chase.
