Another problem is the idea that the moment someone says the word suicide you'd better call the cops and turn them over to someone who will restrict their liberties. But when therapy is out of reach financially for most people, who else is there to call?As is so often the case it's not the tech but the greater negligence and failure to invest.

When I clean out clutter I forget about the things I never miss and dwell on the few things that I might need to find again. It's a selective bias in human memory and I can fight it and have more space and less clutter. *affirmations*

I find it interesting, from my own experience, that video games often are comprised of structured problem solving within clear boundaries and with explicitly stated goals: In many ways it closely resembles something we’d describe as work. Do a unit of work, get a point. Get enough points, you win. Only, the real world is nothing like that. In fact, it’s becoming increasingly less like that with corporate intermediaries and algorithms that are added on top of everything, e.g. empoyers’ Applicant Tracking Systems that automatically throws your job application in the trash because it didn’t include some keyword, or whatever. I think focusing on the dopamine kicks from the games’ rewards misses part of what make video games effective escapism from many alienated youths and adults. It’s the game themselves that are the escape.

If you want to understand a politician quickly from their voting record you look at the instances, often rare, where they did NOT vote with their party. This tells you what they value or who pays them or both.

They typically release 3-5 significant updates a year and have been doing so for several years now.
