The team literally changed their name to “Redlegs” from 1953-1958 because of McCarthyism. “Reds” were dirty commies!

Wow. I really like this grid despite the hated Silver Slugger.

Reds nonsense includes Youngblood, Morris, and Owings, who could have been a mediocre two-way player. But Vander Meer isn’t nonsense, he’s terrific! Back-to-back No-Hitters!

Maxwell was my dad’s favorite.

Lopat was Ted Williams’ LEAST favorite, “That f’ing Lopat.” A 5’10” lefty with no fastball.

Nice grid today, despite the 200 Hits row. Or maybe because of it, since I got to pair Washington Senator Hall of Famers Sam Rice and Goose Goslin. Sadly no room for their CF Nemo Leibold.

Hamilton, Belinda, and Bichette were Reds and I think this is the first time I’ve used Belinda. Nice!

It’s a grey and rainy day in Tallahassee and I’m feeling lazy.

Started with Rookie of the Year category and realized immediately I had no interest in using what Hercule Poirot called “the little grey cells.” Maybe if I’d dug around I’d have remembered Huston Street or Al Bumbry, but honestly not feeling it today.
