And I read that was a lie but really I didn't pay much attention to it. Nobody died or was even badly hurt. For all we know he got in a fight and lost.

You may have seen postcards of this type of thing. That is what incited Tuscon.

I'm curious if it's working in the same way. Even with the Central Park jogger back in the 80s they dynamic had changed. Some people were big mad, but they would let the legal system sort it out. (and it got it wrong... so... what does that say?)

To be clear, I *don't* think the kids they arrested for jumping mr. big balls are being set up. And they are in trouble.

This rallying of a mob around a single crime is a very old and ugly American ritual. Although normally the victim would be a woman.

(I guess they couldn't find a crime like that? anyways. )

To the extent that they care or know about the occupation of DC to what extent did uh... "big balls" getting jumped play a role in making them feel it was justified?

I ask because the way Trump tied the military occupation of the capital to a particular crime reminds me of the Central Park Jogger and the fame he gained for calling for the random boys they picked up to be killed.

I don't know anyone who is following it in that way but I wonder.

When Jeffery was on "work release" down in Palm Beach FL they let him work from a non-profit that he founded himself... he was the only employee and presumably his own boss. So maybe she will do something like that.

Meanwhile the other inmates are striving for the opportunity to bag groceries.

But, I guess with all of the public attention they wouldn't just do that right out of the gate. When everyone forgets.

She is "eligible" for work release on paper I don't think they have rolled that out yet. You know... public outcry.

For now they are just sending any of the other inmates from puppy camp who complain about her being there to more harsh facilities to keep media from having anything to say about it. Because talking to media is SERIOUS. Sex crimes not so much.

He knew exactly where those teens that disappeared from his spa went. And he didn't do anything about it, didn't contact their parents, didn't call the police, nothing. Just let Epstein have them and AT BEST pout about having to find new staff.

At worst? Well.

Of course Trump says he had no idea why the girls were being "stolen" by Epstein... then later is quoted in a paper saying how much Epstein liked women "on the younger side" with admiration.

So, I do not believe that Trump didn't know why they were taken.

Did Trump participate in crimes? I don't know. I don't think anyone in the public could know, but if we had the files we might be able to find out.

Both the president and the victim, Virginia Giuffre, agree and are on record saying that Virginia Giuffre was taken by Epstein from the spa at Mar a lago. That's why when Trump said she (and other young girls who worked in the spa) were "stolen" (Trump's word for it) it was such big news.

Then you have Maxwell saying she didn't do it as she sits in prison.

Is anything that woman says worth anything? I don't think so.

It's in *some* media if you look but I don't feel like they are making a big enough point of just how much she was involved.

I listened to the rest of the tape.

One of the things that bothered me most was how Todd Blanche, the deputy AG from the DOJ described Jeffery Epstein's crimes as "allegations"

Todd Blanche isn't the defense attorney in this conversation. He is the government. And Maxwell was found guilty by a unanimous jury.

It feels like laying the groundwork for a pardon.

That's the problem with doing this stuff ironically, it's kind of fun, feeds the ego and slowly the irony fades away.

If I cared about him as a "leader of the party" I'd warn about it... but maybe he just acts like an attack dog and burns his credibility?

Or it could work. And then we just have two of them. I worry about that too.
