I mean I guess it makes sense, but if this dude was telling me I needed to live on a boat and sell all my positions I'd look at him and think "he kinda seems like a cult leader, maybe this is a cult"I mean I guess it makes sense, but if this dude was telling me I needed to live on a boat and sell all my possessions I'd look at him and think "he kinda seems like a cult leader, maybe this is a cult"
But then there is nothing easy or funny about trying to help people get out of cults. Especially when the cult has all their money and controls their housing. Ugh.

Work in progress on another lichen freehand machine embroidery piece.I could have also just said "THEY EAT ROCKS. ROCKS!"
Amazing living things, and I love how they give our efforts to create taxonomies of living things so much trouble. Good trouble, that.

Every Tesla we saw on our walk to dinner last night had a similar message.I'm glad people are being more loud about this. But, I wonder how it can break through into the wider cultural currents. Driving a Tesla in NYC is very much out and has been for some time.
That these are the exact people who have been most curious about electric cars makes this perhaps more effective. There were like 200 people at a protest at a Tesla dealership in Cleveland.

Work in progress on another lichen freehand machine embroidery piece.I'm gonna link you to my poem about lichen:
"The Once and Future Lichen"
myrmepropagandist (@futurebird@sauropods.win)
Who had that mighty arm? That split the stone, pulled loose the blade? For on a rocky shore a crack describes this feat of strength. The lichen split the rock, my lord, & made young soils from the stone. And where now is that blade? In Lichen’s hand, our future king? Where now lives the hero who the ancient rocks must fear? Seek the crustose crown of ivory foam, the fruticose tendrils ring the dome— in golds & greens: a regal mold. 1/ #LichenSubscribe

so a russian designer brand company "yaka" decided to create a line of clothing inspired by Kyrgyz patterns, ornaments and art, and then proceeded to add a COPYRIGHT CLAIM on said patterns, ornaments, and art, and threaten anybody who might "copy" said...Parasitic fungi play an important role in the ecosystem. IDK what this does.

@chris @cstrossHe might well know it's and error and keep repeating it anyway. Anything to stoke resentment for social security as they would love to liquidate the entire program. In theory this should be a "political third rail" but this isn't a philosophy that asks permission or assumes anything is off limits.
I really hope they don't manage to gut the state teacher pensions. I'll be PISSED if they do. I just got mine corrected and it was very annoying.

My husband apparently discovered this in a bag of potato chips four months ago and saved it to gift to me todayThis is almost as romantic as when my husband saves the flies he swats outside so I can feed them to my pet ants.
There are some high quality men in this world if you look enough.

🚨🚨Trump just tweeted the Führerprinzip.I'm just a little frustrated by how the whole word hangs on his every utterance. It strikes me as a kind of unintentional deference. And if he were in the habit of doing what he said, or said less there might be some point given how much power he is trying to bring under his control.
But, he's kind of like a nonsense machine, and keeps all attention glued on his personality to great benefit. It impresses some of his admirers.
What happens if that stops?

Hmm, didn't have any idea there apparently is a cult made out of former NASA, Google, AI, high-IQ, vegan commune computer software programming folks who live on boats that apparently are on the loose for a bunch of murders (including one with a samurai... -

🚨🚨Trump just tweeted the Führerprinzip. There is some entertainment value in watching powerful people trade insults and say shocking things. Maybe even moment of happiness from a real jerk getting shut down with facts for once.
But, we can't just watch this like it's a tennis match. Or point out how horrible and shocking this thing that was said or that thing that was said might be.
How can I better support people with a chance of resisting "complying" ? How can I be an obstacle to their projects?

🚨🚨Trump just tweeted the Führerprinzip.I think we must radically reframe the way that we apply our limited attention and energy and we need the help of those who work in reporting to do a better job of this.

🚨🚨Trump just tweeted the Führerprinzip.Hi Matt,
This is the sort of thing where I question if it's really news. It is very alarming. It's upsetting and obnoxious. But we all know he telegraphs his every move and does not think that any rules apply to him.
So, in reading this I learn nothing.
And I don't think there is any person for whom this would change their view of him.
To pay attention can be a way to lend a person more power.
We can't ignore actions but his words are trash to me.

I had a dream last night that stuck with me.I had a dream last night that stuck with me. I was waiting for the 4 train at 86th street. Then there was sound of the train coming, but when it pulled up it wasn't the train... it was #picaTheCat. She was as large as a subway train and stopped at the station and started eating the people on the platform like kibble. "No, Pica! No!" I cried, but she wouldn't listen.
I distinctly remember thinking "But I STILL support public transit"
Then I woke up, Pica was on my chest staring at me.

A culture with an intense need and desire to make crystal skulls and shrunken heads...I don't know there is something almost funny about it. "It's horrible how they were so obsessed with death... look at this glittering skull! Oh no here is another one! I must have that one too... these people were sick and driven to collect and worship such objects... so sad... yes put it in the display case right there... thank you."
