It's often very disappointing. Because they ship it way too green. But in early summer you might find a good one.

$4.89 is both an outrageously expensive *and* remarkably inexpensive price for a fresh pineapple all the way from Costa Rica.

Being outside in NYC during the day is intolerable unless you have your head stuck in a bush.

My students thought it was odd that I had my head in the planter on the rooftop playground which was VERY HOT however:

1. You can watch ladybugs and ants
2. A single small tree and a few bushes makes it much cooler. About 4 degrees C. It's very pleasant near the plant.

They did design the roof to hold plants so there could be a lot more.

There are three species of ants in the planter. Lady bugs and two kinds of centipedes. Sadly no spiders.

do you see dumb robots, mindless drones? creatures so devoid of consciousness they lack even that most basic instinct of self preservation? The alates, winged queen ants, would-be kings and consorts die: the shiny identical bodies piled high in shoals of waste: this one, that one, will never see another spring.

I had one of these that was my brothers and everything was missing so I couldn't make it do anything. I think the sense of mystery about how it was meant to work is something I'm still trying to work through to this day.

When gardeners have meet ups ya'll should bring your spinners and plastic owls and such that your birds have learned to ignore and do a swap.

I had a plastic owl but only #picaTheCat was scared of it.
