@futurebird you need them to compute the continued fraction expression of a number: starting with x0 = x, at each step, you set a_k = ipart(x_k), x_k+1 = 1/fpart(x_k).For example, if you do that for x = π, you get a0 = 3, a1 = 7, and if you stop there, you get the famous approximation of π ≈ 3 + 1/7 = 22/7.

@futurebird @Eliot_L 1/3well, oilbirds roost in caves, they echolocate (like bats, but not as precise), and as they feed on oil-palm fruits and tropical laurels, they are so oil-rich they are flammable, especially when young. And there are historical accounts of cave explorers using them as torches.
