"Technology must never advance for these people." is an unsustainable long term and even medium term strategy.
It's barbaric. And the actions needed to enforce it only raise tensions. And it won't work. Many nations that "must never" have bombs already have bombs.

Unlike other insect larvae such as caterpillars or nymphs they can't walk or feed themselves, but this is the hymenopteran innovation. Baby bees are similar.
Ant larvae are *babies* not "eggs" they have "hatched" (thank you) they have a nervous system, a mouth and sometimes even help their older sisters with construction tasks by making silk in some species. (and this isn't the passive "glue gun" role some portray it as, they respond to taps from their older sisters to make attachment points and weave wall patterns)
Ant larvae might be offended by being mistaken for eggs... which are sometimes emergency food!

It's true about many species, but the example I've seen with ants most often are the fire ants. They struggle with a full diverse forest environment and THRIVE on lawns.
This is so important for ant species diversity and having a diverse selection of local ants makes it harder for invasives to spread.
This one felt personal.
