He actually had a hand in tweaking Decima too! When he signed on with Guerrilla, they basically hadn’t planned on offering the engine for external use. It was something they had simply developed for themselves. Guerrilla gave Kojima the framework, and went “well you helped develop FOX, so help us develop Decima (the new name for the previously unnamed engine) too.” The engine name is even a reference to Dejima Island, which was a Dutch trading port in Japan; For much of Japan’s history, the Dutch were the only ones allowed to trade with Japan. So the name has some strong symbolic meanings, with Guerrilla being a Dutch company and Kojima being Japanese.

I think Microsoft is too big to make sensible and timely changes. The company needs to be broken up. Windows, Office, Azure, Xbox, Bing, all need to be separate companies with their individual sustainable business plans, or else let free market decide their will. Same for Apple and Google.

Yeah but game pass has the massive flaw of requiring windows to run.

This one is, the only "coop" part is you being able to pull someone up, someone using the items that you carry / ropes you setup. You do all of that stuff for yourself anyway.

Practically though, Microsoft wanted the Chief (and Cortana I guess) because that's what sells. So that was kinda a constraint. They could have sent him on a space boat somewhere more remote though. Basically infinite without Halo 4/5.
