Watched a lot of bad Braves teams on WTBS. Bob Horner was one of the few good players, so him instead of former-Red Ron Gant. Similar fond memories of the Mad Hungarian Al Hrabosky.
Al Oliver was terrific and clearly well remembered. Onix was a Pirate for 1 game!
Pascual almost got lost on the way to the grid.
When we went to Dublin last year, riding the DART all the way from Howth to Greystones was a highlight! Wish we had more of this in the U.S. Great way to get to know a city and its people.

A little Reds nonsense: Stynes, McCracken, and Braggs. Considered Dave Parker in center square but stuck with Randolph. Pleased to remember Jose Reyes was briefly a Rockie.
Slim Jones again. His 1934 Philadelphia Stars season was astounding. After he blew out his arm they tried him at 1B & OF.

Ancient Mariners!
All 9 guys were MLB into their 40s and all played for the Mariners except for the only non-pitcher, Tony Perez. But Tony’s son Eduardo was a Mariner.
Near as I can tell, the Mariners have used only 6 pitchers who were 40+ years old:
Gaylord, Goose, Moyer, Tony Fossas—all on grid—and Dennis Martinez & Joel Peralta.

Today’s view. I had a theoretically better seat, but it was crowded. Chose general admission in the shade instead.
Honestly still on a high from how the Rays stole that game from the Rangers. Amazing!
Half the game was talking with some Rays fans about how bad Taylor Walls bat is and how they want him replaced. To be clear, they aren’t wrong about his bat.
More interesting was the Rays fan who explained, “See SS? That was supposed to be Wander Franco.” He wasn’t defending Franco at all, just pointing out that *whoever* was at SS was already a disappointment and resented. Local fans are interesting!

I tend to believe in the “notice a trend” theory of baseball. More or less, that means the minute you notice a trend and say it out loud, it switches or stops happening.
On that basis, I’d expect a good series for Soto. Of course, now that I’ve said the “notice a trend” theory out loud . . .
