It drives me nuts how people talk about body language and how sad or happy these nation leaders look around these meetings but what else it there for us to talk about until some papers are signed or action taken.Lost cause Russians? One of them did show up in a CCCP sweater. Not helping to dispel that notion, that.

For anyone who needs it pointed out: Air Canada was expecting people to be upset about flight disruptions, and they were counting on people to blame the workers.Aren't most of their flights to and from the US anyway? Ya'll don't need to come down here. I do not recommend it until we can clean things up.

@FediThingI sincerely think if we took a quiz on "international political facts" most people on the fedi could beat him. Just on the basics like "what is the population of X country?" and "how is the leader of Y determined?" or "what is the primary economic engine of Z?"
-
@FediThingI want to think this isn't true and it's just the left and liberals who dislike Trump giving him no credit at all. However, I have not seen him say or do anything to contradict this. With other presidents even with GWB there have been moments when they have been discussing international relations and brought up a point I had not thought of. Which is what you would expect from a president, that is your JOB.
I have never learned anything from Trump.

I guess it's naive but every time I see an army, all of the organization and human effort I'm disappointed that they aren't doing something else. I understand that Russia doesn't want to be a little "petrol state" ... given how such states are treated by the powerful nations.
Could that be the root of the problem?

I am hoping the the death and destruction can stop, and that this can be done without rewarding Russian aggression (because then there will be more of that, no thank you)

The consensus in media is that the meeting in Alaska with just Trump and Putin started with pomp and good cheer and ended very sour, while the meeting in Washington with Zelensky and his gang of Europeans was more positive.
What could it mean?

Listen you gotta stop publishing stuff like this or @futurebird will stop hanging with us completely@bri_seven @JeffGrigg @VoiceofDuum
I suspect this is pretty important for ant moral.
They will fight over who gets to carry things if there isn't enough to do.

Listen you gotta stop publishing stuff like this or @futurebird will stop hanging with us completelyThis is why ants are intensely fun to watch. They solve problems in the most unexpected ways. Some of it is chance combined with their willingness to instantly use chance to their advantage.
I can say with some confidence that there is NO planning.
It's like watching someone solve a puzzle by dumping the pieces out of the box over and over and mashing any pieces that fit together. And yet the image still emerges.
-
Listen you gotta stop publishing stuff like this or @futurebird will stop hanging with us completelyIn practice what I've seen ants do isn't exactly coordinating.
Often one ant is doing most of the work. The rest are trying but they aren't in a position to do anything.
A lot of flailing and struggling.
If people moved a couch like ants some would be *on* the couch pulling up, some would be trying to hold it but not touching it, but one or two would move it with incredible force for a few seconds before another takes over.

@DavidM_yeg"if you vote for Democrats, do you get a seat at the table?"
There isn't just one table. I was speaking more of simply voting at all. Running for office. Talking about the candidates, publishing newspapers, making media, participating in universities, hospitals, churches and sports. Being a part of society.
This isn't really about Democrats at all?
-
#MondayActionMovie 8 P ET.Ah yes the film that Fox News thinks of as a contemporary documentary.
-
@DavidM_yegGetting the vote and applying it, insisting on "following the rules" has often been and excellent tool in making progress. Other times? Call Mr. Nat Turner I guess.
I don't know I look at the various ways that things can work out for "minority" cultures in larger countries. You can be adsorbed and vanish, you can be erased from the earth, or you can insist on sitting at the table and being a part of *everything*
-
@DavidM_yegThere have always been people who wanted us purged, or sent of to "somewhere else" and some of them are still at it.
I don't see the value in not using all of the available tools just because liberal moderates can be lulled into thinking that all they need to do is vote and everything will work out.
It seems like an over correction for no good reason.
-
@DavidM_yeg> Is voting for lesser evil *effective*, is the question you
> should be asking yourself.Look at the history of Black people in this country. First of all we have a vision of the USA as a multicultural nation. Not just with white and black Christians but people of all religions or none. And not just black and white either. Some of the progress has been political and through the system some had to be outside of it.
