@futurebird 15 years ago, I would have agreed very strongly with all this.but here's the thing: the availability of good explainations peaked in about 2016, and while it has declined, it hasn't declined that much.I no longer think ignorance is the primary problem. @futurebird my intuition is that equilateral triangles and a pair of orthonrrmal basis vectors separated by an angle of 60 degrees for the co-ordinates are the key, since equilateral triangles can be broken down into smaller triangles, but I guess you already got that far. I don't remember enough about how to prove stuff to prove this intuition right or wrong, unfortunately.

The latest updates to NodeBB now do a webfinger backcheck to ensure that the actor has a valid webfinger entry for their purported handle. If it does not, then the user is not properly created. Mastodon also does this. This check is probably for security as well as for preventing handle collisions. The multilingual plugin in conjunction with the ActivityPub plugin creates users that share the same handle, and that causes issues with federated content. If the industry is no longer profitable, it will go back to passion projects and from there hopefully we can recapture what was where hobbiests who were also good writers could do decent 'game journilsm'. Remember the days when a critic could trash a bad game without fear of never getting a review copy? Mostly because the just bought it and played it on release.

They should take a loss because they sold a product and it's availability shouldn't be a lever they use to drive traffic to their new game. Is this where I say you are implying that corporate profits are more important than honesty? Are you implying that they didn't insinuate that this game would be supported longer when they had an actual expiration date on the product code, 2099? If the Crew 3 has been in development for 10 years and they spend a billion dollars developing it would it be ok to sunset the Crew 2 after a couple weeks to "motivate" buyers to buy the new version? Who decides what is the "appropriate" amount of time a product should be available. If they don't allow private or third party hosting for the Crew then anyone should be able to refund it since they bought a product that has been rugpulled. You can feel free to ignore all of that because there isn't a good reason to support Ubisoft here and this model unless you like the taste of shoe polish.

@sophieschmieg @hipsterelectron The hate is mostly from how it can be very arcane and confusing to implement in some cases. Because they have expanded the number of addresses several times it's intimidating to know how to address anything. Never as simple as I think it should be.
