Well, there are a open source games, which are also free to play without microtransactions or other manipulative financing scheme. 0AD, Beyond all reason, Luanti and many more. Free games doesn't necessarily need to implement bad stuff, but some chose to do so.

The secret to writing (or playing) characters that are smarter than you are is that you can take your time coming up with what they do. Maybe in-game your character has a razor wit and would have a snappy comeback for any situation. Out of game you've got a list of pre-prepared retorts you can bust out as needed.

With LeBron, I think it is a combination of a couple of things. Yes, he is an all-time great and a major superstar, so refs may be hesitant to argue with him on a questionable decision. But he is also ancient, in athlete years. He has been referreed by all the refs plenty of times and probably knows where each of their thresholds are and what behavior may trigger them. He also seems like a nice guy, so sometimes it is not "a player whining to them about a call he did not like" but it is "their buddy LeBron pointing out that they keep falling for a flop". Besides, James gets superstar calls. He has no right to whine about anything.

And it’s possible and valid to be angry with those past versions of yourself if they have left you faced with an unrealistic stack of work and no time to enjoy life at all.
