In the case of games, this is doubly problematic due to patches and updates. People can still play Fortnite and Overwatch today, but they can no longer play those games as they were in 2018. Anyone that never played previous versions can only read changelogs to get an idea of what changed and when.

My friends and I once came across what was clearly a pit of spikes (in hindsight), and instead of going over them...proceeded to climb down into the *pit of spikes*, navigate through them, and climb up the other side. The DM said nothing and just let it happen. Me and the rogue were probably both a little intoxicated (I definitely was). If the barbarian knew, she also didn't say anything.

@JamesWidman @Gustodon Asking because in some locations the few "medically significant" spiders are not aggressive at all and you'd need to pin the spider down to get it to bite you. Generally since spiders are small and scared of people it's hard to get bit by them. But always check your boots. If that makes sense.

I'm saying that the pricing scheme Nintendo has for the S2 ecosystem is not conducive to pushing volume. This is evident to my other comment from talking to my local game store. Console demand is high, while games, accesories and controllers are not. If the average consumer's S2 library goes over 10 games average for the lifetime of the console, I'll be surprised unless pricing changes. The people who have purchased a S2 are holding back on other purchases that usually accompany that purchase. The people who haven't yet purchased and who will not purchase are likely aware of the prices as well. My rural local TV station ran 2 stories on price increases. Even if not all games are $80 each, the preconception is there for quite a few people that all S2 games are $80 each no matter if you've purchased a console or not.

@futurebird It's beautiful They're gonna love it so much !When I was a teenager I found a 19th century edition of Victor Hugo's Toilers of the Sea at a flee market, a beautiful tall red leather-bound book including the author's illustrations. It was the same price as a new paperback edition of the novel and way more exhilarating to read (if less practical). Still one of the most cherished books in my personal bookshelves to this day.

This is very obviously a language barrier issue at play here that people are ignoring just to take what he said at face value. There’s zero chance that what he meant was the game was _too good_ and that as a result he wanted to _make it worse_. He almost certainly meant something more along the lines of the plot, or something to do with the game mechanics were too streamlined, or otherwise not challenging enough in some way.

I'm not super familiar with it because by the time they got around to releasing an artificer I was already waning in my 5e interest, so I'm going largely on memory of early drafts (Unearthed Arcanas) and general cultural osmosis. Different subclasses or builds have different focuses. There's an alchemist subclass, a gunner subclass (like 2e's gunslinger), and one more like the inventor.

I know you kid, but rolling without the DM asking you to is a dick move and a faux pas at a table. You really shouldn't do that. Same thing happened with Critical Role and the "roll for scry" moment. It puts the DM in a position where they might have to confront you, deny you the roll and sour a moment. It puts pressure on them to allow you to do something, which players often abuse - someone spins a tale of doing a quadruple backflip, landing on someone's head, attacking and bumping the dude into lava, rolls before the DM can say "there is no lava nearby but..." and puts them in a really awkward situation, especially with high rolls.

I'm assuming the opposite, that AI will get so good that I won't be able to tell without searching for the image/video online. Terrifying, really.
