Feed needs more cats. -
@ngaylinnI guess that's why doing that for an email to a boss seems less offensive than doing it for an email to a friend.
That said, I don't even really think the tech is very good at this type of thing. You will always need to proof-read and edit, and edit and edit.
By the time you are done it's the same process.
Unless you close your eyes and hit "send" and hope no one notices you sound like a creepy overly friendly creature from an advertisement. And some people are doing this.
-
@ngaylinnI know of some one who asks AI things like "my co-worker asked me to cover for them, how do I say no without making them mad?"
It might be OK advice, but by using it one is avoiding the friction and danger of human interactions.
I get it. Social interactions are terrifying. But, if I use a machine to help me never make a "mistake" will anyone even know who I am anymore? I am an annoying person. That would be lost.
-
@ngaylinnPeople are scared that people look down on them for leaning on this tech, he may have been using it much more in ways you don't know about.
I think that there is an impulse to hide the use kind of says everything. The shame isn't coming from other people, it's ones own self-respect saying that this is lazy, inconsiderate, hollow.
AI use guilt is real. And justified.
-
@ngaylinnIt will only make him more annoyed if after you do (not saying you should) you are still not impressed.
I have tried it.
In good faith too. Let me see if I can make this work. Can it save me any time?
But the time savings are an illusion. I tried it for feedback on a poem and it was very flattering but then on reflection that felt hollow and I didn't want to trust the advice since... well I didn't write the poem for machine validation I write a poem to impress my friends.

#WordWeavers 22/11: If any artist, dead or alive, could create your cover, who would you choose? The feeling of leaning around some god awful project and your shirt pulling up but you don't care because by god it's almost WORKING.

#WordWeavers 22/11: If any artist, dead or alive, could create your cover, who would you choose? The RPG might be nice. I've been avoiding the other stuff since just looking at the images gives me so many ideas and I don't really want to know "what it is officially."
I like the way his painting raise all of these tantalizing questions about the world that they imply. "Could this be OUR world? Our future? Our past?"
It's wonderful.

#WordWeavers 22/11: If any artist, dead or alive, could create your cover, who would you choose? To be fair Stålenhag writes his own stories mostly through images. I think there is a movie or mini series out... But, I love to look at the books for inspiration on the mood and tone I'm going for with "The Novel I Can't Talk About Until It Is Done"
This week I made a big breakthrough on a major plot point in the story. I have a mystery in my story. And I didn't know what the mystery was. I was so scared to pin it down to be one thing. But, now I know: it feels great.

"Things that make your home look DATED!"Exactly. You get it.

Conservative girlies love to quit their job and act like it's a sacrifice.OK I can't prove there was an "offer" but the reasons she gives don't make sense?
She says she's tired basically of getting attacked from the right and not being given any credit for how loyal she's been to Trump.
She may try to run for president or something. But I think quitting always looks very bad. It's so weak.

Conservative girlies love to quit their job and act like it's a sacrifice.Someone made her an offer and she's stepping down in Jan.
-
"Things that make your home look DATED!"It becomes "classic" when it's not associated with being too poor to update it, but rather rich enough to have "restored" it.
I really think it's THAT shallow.
-
@chuBut there is a lot to talk about in the world of design that has nothing to do with capitalism. It's about creativity, self expression and art.
I love that aspect and will not stop.

Do. Your. Work.
(MTG, Sarah Palin... same thing, I wonder what consulting job MTG has lined up?)

"Things that make your home look DATED!"Is there carpet that has lasted in a bathroom that long without becoming a kind of ... "natural flooring" in the worst possible way.
I file that under "not functional"
-
"Things that make your home look DATED!"I love the way it's the same tap for the sink and the tub. And the shape of the sink is really cool.
I think adding tiles to the side of the tub and giving the walls a deep clean so it's all those square white ones would make it look very cohesive. Whatever is going on with the side of the tub now I don't like.
There is probably a good reason why the washing machine is in the bathroom. But I wish it were towel storage instead.
Obsessed with that faucet.

Consider most of the furniture in your home.If you hide those white cables you could put this in a magazine. Looks amazing.

"Things that make your home look DATED!"So my suggestion is that we recognize what is "dated" but not take it as a negative. There is something about the way that "dated design" can catch your eye, make you cringe a little and say "wow we don't do *that* anymore" that's really exciting. Thrilling.
Why not lean into it if the space is functional and enjoyable? That's a bold style choice.
In a few moments you'll have people wanting to copy you because the durable and functional "dated" design is the mother of "vintage" and "classic"
